Restore Definition and Vitality with a Chin Implant

If you’re interested in a chin implant, then you’re not alone.  Many patients are interested in the restorative and defining power of chin implants, especially when these individuals may feel self-conscious about their sagging jaw lines.  A clearly defined and shaped chin can work wonders on a patient’s self-esteem, which is why many patients in the Bay Area seek out Dr. Serebrakian at the Bay Area Laser Cosmetic Surgery Center.
Chin implants are a special type of facial implant that’s designed to help enhance your natural appearance.  Chin implants can provide a significant amount of balance to the face, which produces a more attractive and pleasant appearance.  Patients often report that their facial features seem more symmetrical and in proportion after undergoing a chin implant procedure at the Bay Area Laser Cosmetic Surgery Center.
If you’re interested in chin implants, what can you expect from this restorative procedure?
The Chin Implant Procedure and Recovery
Chin implant surgery can take a surprisingly short amount of time; in fact, most procedures take anywhere from thirty minutes to an hour to perform.  During the procedure, Dr. Serebrakian will select the proper chin implant size for your facial shape.  A small incision will be made inside the mouth near the front of the jawbone, or under the chin, where the implant will be placed.  Once this has been performed, the incision will be stitched up and the chin will be taped to minimize swelling during recovery.
During recovery from your chin implant procedure, you will experience swelling, discomfort and pain for a few days.  Bruising should be expected.
After the chin implant procedure, Dr. Serebrakian will instruct you how to clean your teeth, eat and perform other activities.
Chin Implant Consultation
Before undergoing the chin implant procedure, you and Dr. Serebrakian will meet to discuss your desired results from the chin implants.  This will help Dr. Serebrakian decide on the right size and shape of the chin implants, as well as help form your expectations for after the chin implant procedure.
Dr. Serebrakian is a board certified head and neck surgeon and a member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery, California Society of Cosmetic Surgery, and the California Society of Facial Plastic Surgery.
It’s worth emphasizing that chin augmentation is a surgical procedure. In many cases results can be achieved without surgery using injectable fillers, which only takes a few minutes. The doctor will sometimes recommend patients try a simulated chin augmentation before committing to a surgical implant.
