At the Bay Area Laser Cosmetic Surgery Center, Dr. Armen Serebrakian and his team of professionals are open to helping patients with a selection of facial procedures, including both surgical and nonsurgical. Patients dealing with extensive amounts of sagging, loose skin around the face and neck may find that they are a great candidate for this procedure.
What is the facelift procedure?
The facelift, also referred to as a rhytidectomy, is a procedure that is used to remove and tighten loose skin on the face that is contributing to an aged appearance. After the age of 30, we naturally begin to lose our collagen stores that keep our facial skin tight, firm, and youthful. When lost, skin laxity occurs and causes the formation of fine lines and wrinkles that add to one’s aged appearance.
Gravity can take a toll on the facial area, but with plastic surgery, patients can combat these changes and restore a youthful look. The procedure is performed with incisions typically behind the ear or within the hair line. Excess skin is removed, the skin is tightened, and then the area is stitched. By doing this, the scarring left behind is easily disguised and not apparent.
Am I a good fit for a facelift?
Many patients who have the earlier signs of aging can reduce them with other noninvasive options first, such as dermal fillers and neuromodulators. However, as the aging becomes more severe and noticeable, it may require surgical intervention to address. During a consultation visit with Dr. Armen Serebrakian, patients can determine if they are a good candidate to undergo plastic surgery or if there is another option available to them.
How long will my facelift results last?
The facelift procedure can reverse several years off of the face, however, it doesn’t not last forever. We cannot stop the process of aging, but certain procedures can help in setting back the clock.
