When your chin doesn’t deserve to be on your face

Blame it on social media, selfies and video chat – or your mirror – but you might have started to notice your chin, for all the wrong reasons. And many of us begin to feel self-conscious and unhappy about our sagging jaw lines as we age.

So it makes sense that statistics from The American Society of Plastic Surgeons show that “chinplants” are one of the fastest growing procedures in the U.S. among men and women of all ages.

Here are some of the not-so-attractive reasons our patients are telling us they want chin augmentation, and how it can help:

“My neck looks fleshy.”
Chin implant surgery can bring all your facial features into harmony, balancing your overall facial appearance.
“My nose looks bigger than it should.”
Chin implants add definition to your jaw and can balance the appearance of your nose.
“The bottom of my face doesn’t fit with the top of my face.”
If you feel that your chin is not shaped right in relation to the rest of your face the procedure can bring proportion to your chin, and provide balance and definition to other facial features.
“My chin is making me look older than I am.”
The chin and jawline are among the first areas to show signs of aging. Chin implants can make a dramatic difference when it comes to restoring a more youthful appearance.

Some help keeping your chin up

Once in place, a chin implant can give you a strong, natural-looking jaw line. And by providing balance to your face, a chin implant can give you a younger and more attractive appearance. Chin implants are used to enlarge or advance your chin, but some patients actually choose chin reduction because they want their jaw to appear less prominent

Dr. Serebrakian is a board certified head and neck surgeon and a member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery, California Society of Cosmetic Surgery, and the California Society of Facial Plastic Surgery, who can help you have the chin you want. Call for a consultation today:

Restore Definition and Vitality with a Chin Implant

Chin ImplantIf you’re interested in a chin implant, then you’re not alone.  Many patients are interested in the restorative and defining power of chin implants, especially when these individuals may feel self-conscious about their sagging jaw lines.  A clearly defined and shaped chin can work wonders on a patient’s self-esteem, which is why many patients in the Bay Area seek out Dr. Serebrakian at the Bay Area Laser Cosmetic Surgery Center.

Chin implants are a special type of facial implant that’s designed to help enhance your natural appearance.  Chin implants can provide a significant amount of balance to the face, which produces a more attractive and pleasant appearance.  Patients often report that their facial features seem more symmetrical and in proportion after undergoing a chin implant procedure at the Bay Area Laser Cosmetic Surgery Center.

If you’re interested in chin implants, what can you expect from this restorative procedure?

The Chin Implant Procedure and Recovery

Chin implant surgery can take a surprisingly short amount of time; in fact, most procedures take anywhere from thirty minutes to an hour to perform.  During the procedure, Dr. Serebrakian will select the proper chin implant size for your facial shape.  A small incision will be made inside the mouth near the front of the jawbone, or under the chin, where the implant will be placed.  Once this has been performed, the incision will be stitched up and the chin will be taped to minimize swelling during recovery.

During recovery from your chin implant procedure, you will experience swelling, discomfort and pain for a few days.  Bruising should be expected.

After the chin implant procedure, Dr. Serebrakian will instruct you how to clean your teeth, eat and perform other activities.

Chin Implant Consultation

Before undergoing the chin implant procedure, you and Dr. Serebrakian will meet to discuss your desired results from the chin implants.  This will help Dr. Serebrakian decide on the right size and shape of the chin implants, as well as help form your expectations for after the chin implant procedure.

Dr. Serebrakian is a board certified head and neck surgeon and a member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery, California Society of Cosmetic Surgery, and the California Society of Facial Plastic Surgery.

It’s worth emphasizing that chin augmentation is a surgical procedure. In many cases results can be achieved without surgery using injectable fillers, which only takes a few minutes. The doctor will sometimes recommend patients try a simulated chin augmentation before committing to a surgical implant.
