What You Need to Know About A Cheek Implant Procedure

If you think your facial features could be more symmetrical, then you may be interested in learning more about a cheek implant procedure.  Categorized as a facial feature/contouring procedure, cheek implants represent an ideal method for restoring symmetry and proportion to a patient’s face.
Cheek implants are usually sought by patients who feel that their facial features aren’t in proportion.  Many individuals can be self-conscious about their facial features, especially when one is more prominent than the other.  Cheek implants seek to restore proportion to the face by balancing out all the features, thus leading to a more attractive and pleasant visage.  Patients often report experiencing an increase in confidence and self-esteem after undergoing this procedure with Dr. Serebrakian, with 27 years of experience performing cheek implant procedures, at the Bay Area Laser Cosmetic Surgery Center.
If you’re interested in undergoing a cheek implant procedure, here’s what you should know about the cheek implant procedure.
The Cheek Implant Consultation and Procedure
Before you can undergo the cheek implant procedure, you will need to meet with Dr. Serebrakian to undergo an informative consultation.  During this meeting, Dr. Serebrakian will discuss the cheek implant procedure with you so that you understand what to expect., and a gallery of before & after photos will be reviewed.  You will also share your expectations with Dr. Serebrakian, which can help him determine the ideal size and shape of your cheek implants.
Once you’ve decided on the type of cheek implants you want, you and Dr. Serebrakian will begin the cheek implant procedure.  Cheek implants procedure take a surprisingly short amount of time to perform; in fact, most procedures will take between 35 to 45 minutes.  If a cheek implant is being performed in conjunction with a facelift or another type of procedure, the implant will be placed in the incisions made for these procedures.  If not, incisions will be made in your upper gum or undereye area, where the implant will be placed. Once the cheek implant is in place, the incisions will be stitched up and dressings will be applied to minimize swelling and bruising.
During the recovery period, patients should expect to see some bruising, swelling, and discomfort for several days.  Dr. Serebrakian will instruct you on how to perform dental hygiene, eat, and other activities.
