The main reason men get plastic surgery may surprise you

We are all living in a culture that appreciates youth and beauty – male and female.  For many decades now, women have been taking advantage of all the ways that cosmetic procedures can help them enhance their beauty and maintain their youth. And for the last five years or more, more men than ever have been doing the same.
Busting the myth
It hasn’t been only women having cosmetic surgery for quite some time now. According to the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), the number of men having cosmetic procedures increased over 106% between 1997 and 2012. Here’s the main reason men say they want to look better, younger, more fit and more masculine:
Men have plastic surgery to help them succeed at work and stay competitive in the job market
Plastic surgery may not have always been on the list of things that can help men advance in their careers, but it certainly is now. And while it’s true that some men are focused on their appearance because they are body builders or want to look like male models, more and more, the men who turn up in the offices of plastic surgeons are regular guys, hoping to look more youthful and energetic at their desk jobs.
Not all dads want the popular “dad bod”
Lately, online and even mainstream media have been touting the popularity of the “dad bod.” These are young family men who are comfortably soft and chubby — and proud of it. But plastic surgeons might tell a different story. They’re seeing “athletic” dads who are in their 40s, have put on a few pounds, and want to do what they can to fight the signs of aging. So they’re having everything from eyelifts to liposuction to try to get closer to their former fit and athletic selves.
