Types of Injectables
BOTOX®
BOTOX® is one of the most popular injectables available on the market. It’s ideal for treating lines on the forehead and between the brows and crow’s feet around the eyes.
It’s composed of clostridium botulinum, which prevents chemical transmitters from activating muscle movement. Since the muscle movement is minimized, it reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
BOTOX® treatment takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes and lasts about three to four months.
XEOMIN®
XEOMIN® is also composed of clostridium botulinum and minimizes muscle movement. However, it does not contain any additives, unlike BOTOX®, which includes extra proteins. This lowers the possibility of the body forming antibodies against the injection.
The treatment time is about the same, lasting between 10 and 15 minutes, but the results can last up to six months.
Dysport®
Dysport®, while derived from clostridium botulinum, includes less protein synthesis than BOTOX®, allowing it to work more quickly than BOTOX®.
However, it is only effective on dynamic wrinkles, which occur when making facial impressions. Dysport® is used on the upper third of the face, where most of these wrinkles occur.
A Dysport® treatment takes 10-15 minutes and lasts three to four months.
