What is Thermage®, and how exactly does it work?
Thermage® is a non-invasive, FDA-cleared procedure that uses radiofrequency energy to heat the skin and stimulate the production of collagen. The resulting tightening and lift can help improve the appearance of sagging or loose skin on the face, neck, stomach, arms, and legs.
Thermage® works to tighten the skin by heating the deep layers of skin without damaging the surface. As the temperature rises, the collagen fibers begin to contract, which results in immediate skin tightening. Additionally, the thermal energy stimulates new collagen production over time, leading to long-term results.
How long does it take to see the results?
Most of our patients at the Bay Area Laser Cosmetic Surgery Center will see noticeable results after just one treatment. However, some may require more than one session to achieve their desired goal. Results from Thermage® typically last 12 to 24 months.
Is there any downtime?
There is no downtime associated with Thermage® treatments. You may experience some redness or swelling immediately after the procedure, but this should subside within a few hours. You can resume all normal activities right away, as recommended by your provider, Dr. Armen Serebrakian.
Are there any side effects?
Thermage® is generally well tolerated by patients with minimal side effects. The most common are redness, swelling, and bruising, which typically resolve within a few days. More rare side effects include blisters, burns, and changes in skin color. These usually resolve on their own and are not significant for our patients.
