Let’s Address your Botox Questions

Botox is undeniably one of the most popular cosmetic treatments in the U.S. With the promise of reduced wrinkles and less facial creases; it’s no wonder it has been consistently sought after. If you are considering Botox injections, it’s likely you’ve thought of some of the following questions.
How does a Botox procedure work?
Using a fine needle, Botox is injected into specific areas to block the connection between muscles and nerves. The result is a more refined and smooth appearance. Botox is mostly used to treat forehead lines, crow’s feet, lip lines, frown lines, and lines around the chin and neck. Botox will not work on facial creases caused by sun damage, cigarette smoking, or gravity because these wrinkles are not caused by muscle contractions.
How can I prepare for my Botox procedure?
Patients should be in general good health before any cosmetic procedure. If you normally drink alcohol, you will need to stop doing so for one week before your treatment. Also, do not take aspirin or anti-inflammatory medication two weeks leading up to your procedure. These precautions will help guard against excessive bruising.
How long does a Botox injection last?
Your Botox injections will last up to three to four months before you begin to notice the reappearance of wrinkles. With regular injections, you will be able to train your muscles to contract less and relax. Overtime, you will need fewer treatments.
What are the side effects of Botox?
Bruising is the most noted side effect, but this is temporary. Some patients report getting a headache that lasts one to two days while others report temporary eye drooping. If you experience eye drooping, be sure to not rub the injected area for 12 hours post procedure
Does my insurance cover Botox?
Generally speaking, Botox is a cosmetic procedure, so it is uncommon for insurance to cover it.
